Outdoor Learning

When God created the heavens and the earth, he gave it to His special creation, man, to delight in, rule over, and enjoy. This reality has not changed. God has given us the best classroom—the outdoors. At Cedars we prioritize learning outdoors by getting kids outside for classwork.

A typical day for a Cedars student includes sitting around a fire fed by wood they helped gather while discussing a classic work of literature, or learning history while hiking a trail, or exploring the woods looking for fascinating creatures under rocks and logs, field guide in hand. To facilitate and encourage this kind of excitement in learning, Cedars offers five outdoor classrooms to their teachers and students.

Emphasis on outdoor learning flows from our core values
