Mission, Vision & Values
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a broad and generous Christian education that equips students – heart, soul, mind, and strength – to carry out the good works which God prepared for them in the family, church, society, and state.
Our Vision
Cedars Christian School aims to cultivate young men and women who love God, pursue truth, and serve others with courage and grace. Rooted in Christ and alive with curiosity, our graduates will grow in wisdom and character as they explore God’s world discerning what is true, engaging culture with confidence, and faithfully stewarding their gifts wherever God calls them.
Distinctives
What Makes Cedars Unique?
Christ-Centered
The world we study was brought into existence and is upheld by the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:3; Hebrews 1:3). We cannot fully comprehend any subject—history, science, math, literature, or art—apart from the knowledge of God in Christ. We teach all subjects with reference to Him, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3).
Family-Oriented
Family is the seedbed of education. School can support but never replace the vital role of the family in the development of a child. With our hybrid model, we partner with families in the nurture and education of children, encouraging and conserving time for home life and family culture to flourish.
Living Ideas
A child is a person, made in God’s image, possessing a mind that is hungry to grow. Minds grow best when nourished by ideas. Through a curriculum that emphasizes living books over textbooks, and narration (“telling back”) over worksheets and standardized testing, we spread before children a “feast of ideas,” setting them up for a life of learning and fruitful service to God.
Character Formation
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Prov. 1:7), and knowledge that doesn’t bear the fruit of godliness is not true knowledge. Conversely, godly character and productive habits are conducive to study and the health of the mind. We seek to instill good habits and godly character in students, understanding that a full education takes into account not only the mind, but the whole person.
Western Culture
Christians today have inherited three millennia of Western and Christian tradition. Much of Christian education is learning from past discoveries, applying those lessons to our culture, and building on them as we continue to learn. At Cedars, our Arts Cycle and study of living books help students understand and appreciate the foundational ideas and creative achievements of past generations.
Nature Study and the Outdoors
God made the natural world for man to steward and enjoy, so we want our students to be intimately acquainted with and appreciate being in nature. We intentionally spend a good deal of the day outdoors, studying creation, learning about birds, drawing trees, walking down trails, tending to plants, or enjoying the warmth of a campfire as a story is read. The outdoors is a wonderful environment for kids to grow up and learn in together!
Core Values
Cedars Christian School holds to four foundational principles intended to influence strategic decisions, develop and align school culture, and guide the growth of the Cedars community. They inform what we do and reflect our belief about who children are.

PERSONHOOD OF THE CHILD
GROWING GOD’S IMAGE BEARERS
A child’s purpose is to glorify and enjoy God and to grow to serve Him in a particular calling.
To help our students achieve this, we seek to:
- Love and respect every child
- Nurture the whole child (mind, body, soul)
- Foster a lifelong love of learning
- Help children form good habits and godly character
PARTNERING WITH FAMILIES
FAMILY: THE SEEDBED OF EDUCATION
Education is a life, and family is the fundamental structure in which life occurs.
Acknowledging this, we strive to:
- Encourage family culture and the life of the home
- Keep academic demands low on home days
- Be accommodating and flexible
- Keep tuition affordable

LIVING IDEAS
ENLARGING MINDS TO FULFILL GOD’S PURPOSE
Learning involves engaging with a “feast of ideas” to develop principled, critical, & creative thinking.
With this in mind, we emphasize:
- Living books and ideas
- Engaged learning (participation, narration)
- Integration of subjects and ages
- Minimal screen time
LOVING OUR COMMUNITY
GROWING WHERE WE’RE PLANTED
Learning is best accomplished in vital relationship with one’s surroundings.
To foster this, our curriculum emphasizes:
- Intentional time outdoors
- Learning local history and geography
- Partnerships with members of the community
- Opportunities for outreach and service
